As you’d imagine, here at T4D we’re privileged enough to see a host of ultra-luxury and bespoke watches on a daily basis, but every so often we get a chance to see something extra, extra special. This extravagant, yet elegant diamond-set, 18 carat white gold Rolex Daytona is just such an example.
Customised by our specialist, in-house workshop, this ultimate chronograph is a 116509 reference Rolex Daytona in 18 carat white gold, with diamond set case and bezel. Everything about this model is special, even the white gold itself. Smelt and founded in their own exclusive foundry, Rolex are able to cast the highest quality gold alloys, adjusting quantities of elements like platinum, silver and palladium to produce the purest yellow, pink or white gold. If the white gold case wasn’t luxurious enough, our customisation department have set the case and shoulders with VS1, round-brilliant cut diamonds in colour G-H. For an extra touch of opulence, we’ve also set the white gold bezel with VS1 baguette cut diamonds, bringing the total diamond weight to 2.5 carats and giving the watch an undeniably luxurious look and feel.
What's under the glass?
Another striking feature of this diamond-set Rolex Daytona is the sumptuous blue chronograph dial. A familiar colour in different models in the Rolex family, this shade of blue is slightly darker than the cobalt blue used for the Yellow Rolesor and Gold Submariner models, but compliments the white gold case and diamond-set bezel perfectly. The red circles in the chronograph sub-dials help to give the watch an extra sporty touch.
What makes it tick?
Like other, similar reference Daytonas, this customised Cosmograph model is equipped with the caliber 4130 movement, Rolex’s own design that’s been a mainstay of the Daytona range since 2000. Incorporating far fewer components than most chronograph movements means that the 4130 is more reliable and less susceptible to shocks and temperature variations.
As you’d expect with a watch of this quality, our 116509 model features a solid white gold Oyster bracelet, with mirror polished centre links. First introduced in the late 1930s, the Oyster bracelet itself is the perfect combination of form and function being both comfortable and robust, remaining the most universal bracelet in the Oyster collection.
