Cartier Straps: Replacement and Bespoke Cartier Watch Straps

Cartier is the only watchmaker where the strap and the case are close to equal partners in the design. A Santos on the wrong strap looks diminished. A Tank on the right leather looks iconic. Cartier Santos Straps (Modern QuickSwitch)

Cartier introduced the QuickSwitch interchangeable system on the 2018 Santos redesign. It allows strap and bracelet changes without tools, using a push-button release on the underside of each lug. Our Cartier Santos strap collection covers the Santos Medium, Large and Santos XL in black leather, brown leather, alligator, crocodile, calfskin, and rubber, all cut to the QuickSwitch channel so they engage and lock cleanly. Cartier Santos 100 and Santos 100 XL Straps (Vintage Screw-Fit)

The Santos 100, produced from 2004 through 2017, uses a screw-mounted lug system rather than QuickSwitch. Changing the strap requires a jeweller's screwdriver and correct torque at the lug screws. We stock Cartier Santos 100 straps and Santos 100 XL replacement straps in matching black leather, brown leather, alligator, crocodile and rubber finishes, plus custom diamond-set leather configurations for the Santos 100 XL chronograph. We fit them in our workshop, which removes the risk of stripped lug screws that comes with DIY swaps on this reference.

Tank Straps

The Tank line covers Must de Cartier, Tank Louis, Tank Francaise, Tank Americaine, Tank MC, Tank Solo and the newer Tank Must reissues. Most Tank references carry traditional flat-lug geometry with standard spring bars, which makes them more forgiving on strap fitment than the Santos or Ballon Bleu. Alligator and crocodile in black, burgundy and navy are the traditional choices. Smooth calfskin reads cleaner on the smaller Must de Cartier cases.

Ballon Bleu Straps

The Ballon Bleu's curved case pushes the lugs into an integrated channel where the strap seats into a recess rather than sitting proud of the case. Aftermarket straps cut for straight-lug cases create visible gapping on the Ballon Bleu. Every Ballon Bleu strap in our collection is cut with the integrated curved end to sit flush inside the recess.

Pasha and Other Cartier Straps

We also supply and fit straps for the Pasha de Cartier (both the vintage references and the 2020 redesign with QuickSwitch), the discontinued Cle de Cartier, and the Panthere when collectors prefer leather over the standard bracelet. Cartier Leather Straps: Alligator, Crocodile and Calfskin

Hand-stitched Cartier alligator straps, Cartier crocodile straps and matte calfskin in the classic Cartier palette of black, burgundy, navy, racing green and cognac. Leather remains the default Cartier material across the Tank and dress Santos configurations. Black leather is the most requested finish on Santos, brown and cognac lead on Tank Louis. End-link curvature is cut to the specific reference and case year, so a Tank Francaise strap will not cross-fit to a Tank Louis.

Cartier Rubber Straps

FKM vulcanised rubber in black and navy for the Santos and Santos 100 references where buyers want an active-wear option. The modern Santos QuickSwitch rubber straps engage and release with the same push-button mechanism as the factory rubber option.

Cartier Fitment Notes That Save You Money

Cartier case geometry varies more than most brands' case geometry. Three fitment considerations matter before you order.

First, Santos QuickSwitch straps do not fit the Santos 100, and Santos 100 screw-fit straps do not fit the modern QuickSwitch Santos. These are different systems despite being the same product family.

Second, Ballon Bleu straps need the integrated curved end-link to sit flush inside the case recess. Standard straight-lug straps will gap visibly at the lug.

Third, Cartier uses smaller spring bar dimensions on ladies' Tank and smaller Santos references than most brands. Substituting standard 1.6mm spring bars in place of the Cartier originals can cause strap sag. We supply the correct bars fitted.

If your Cartier is due for servicing, strap changes can be handled at the same visit. Our watch servicing and repair team handles both work streams together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my modern Santos really take QuickSwitch straps only?

Yes. The QuickSwitch system introduced in 2018 is specific to the current Santos generation. Older Santos references including the Santos 100 use screw-fit mounting and will not accept QuickSwitch straps without case modification. Confirm your reference number before ordering.

Can I fit a rubber strap to my Tank?

Technically yes, physically uncomfortable. The Tank was designed around leather and the flat case sits awkwardly on rubber, which is a thicker material that does not drape the way leather does on a rectangular case. We rarely recommend rubber on Tank references.

Does changing the strap void my Cartier warranty?

No, provided the case is not damaged during fitment. Third-party strap fitting is common practice and does not affect the Cartier international warranty on the movement. Any work we carry out is documented and kept separate from the factory case serials.

What lug width does my Cartier take?

Lug width varies substantially across the Cartier range. Santos Medium takes around 17mm, Santos Large around 21mm, Tank Louis around 15 to 17mm depending on size, Ballon Bleu 36mm around 18mm and Ballon Bleu 42mm around 21mm. We confirm the exact measurement against your specific reference before cutting.

Do you stock ladies' Cartier straps?

Yes. Ladies' Tank, ladies' Santos and ladies' Ballon Bleu all have their own strap sizing, which most third-party strap makers ignore. We cut ladies' straps in the full Cartier palette.
