The Rolex Day-Date 40 is the brand's flagship dress watch, the only Rolex to display the day of the week spelled out in full, and the model long known as the President after the bracelet made for it. Our collection covers pre-owned, unworn and custom diamond-set Day-Date 40 references in Everose, yellow and white gold, every piece authenticated and ready to ship from our London showroom.
The Rolex Day-Date 40 collection
We carry the current 40mm generation, launched in 2015 with the calibre 3255 movement, across all three gold cases. Stock spans factory dials, custom diamond-paved dials and custom bezels, with the President bracelet that defines the model.
Recurring stock includes the Everose 228235 with chocolate, sundust and slate dials, the yellow gold 228238 in champagne and black diagonal motif, and the white gold 228239 in blue. Custom work covers diamond-set bezels, diamond-paved dials and bespoke coloured bezels done in our own workshop.
The President and the day display
The Day-Date earned the President nickname from the semi-circular three-piece link bracelet developed for it, associated with the heads of state and public figures who wore the model from its 1956 launch. It remains the bracelet most associated with the Day-Date.
The defining feature is the day of the week displayed in full in an arc above the 12, alongside the date at 3 o'clock under a Cyclops lens. Rolex offers the day display in a wide range of languages, which is part of the appeal for international buyers. The model is produced only in precious metal, never steel, which sets it apart as the dress flagship.
Everose, yellow and white gold
The Day-Date 40 comes in three gold options and the choice drives the look. Everose, Rolex's patented rose gold alloy, pairs with chocolate, sundust and slate dials for a warm modern finish and is our most requested case. Yellow gold suits champagne, black and diagonal motif dials for the classic President look. White gold reads as the most discreet, often chosen with blue or diamond-paved dials.
Across all three we hold factory diamond dials and build custom diamond-paved dials and diamond bezels. Buyers wanting a custom dial or bezel on an existing Day-Date can brief that through our Rolex dials and Rolex bezels collections.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the Rolex Day-Date called the President?
The nickname comes from the three-piece link President bracelet developed for the model at its 1956 launch, and from the heads of state and public figures associated with wearing it. The bracelet remains the one most linked to the Day-Date.
What is the difference between the Day-Date 40 and earlier Day-Dates?
The Day-Date 40, launched in 2015, uses a 40mm case and the calibre 3255 movement with a roughly 70-hour power reserve. Earlier versions include the 36mm Day-Date and the Day-Date II at 41mm.
Is the Rolex Day-Date available in steel?
No. The Day-Date is produced only in precious metal, in Everose, yellow or white gold and platinum. This is part of what positions it as the brand's flagship dress watch.
Do you sell pre-owned and custom Day-Date 40 watches?
Both. Pre-owned pieces are serviced and authenticated. We also build custom diamond-paved dials and diamond bezels on the Day-Date 40 in our workshop. Every listing states the configuration.
