Ryan Reynolds Watch Collection: The Paul Newman Daytona, the Piaget Years and a New Obsession
Article Summary: Ryan Reynolds' watch collection pairs a vintage Rolex Daytona Paul Newman with a Moonshine gold Omega Speedmaster, pieces from his Piaget ambassador years and a 2026 turn towards independents including A. Lange & Söhne, F.P. Journe and Bernhard Lederer. In August 2026 he announced on Instagram that he had enrolled in a horology class.
- Reynolds wore an exotic dial Rolex Daytona Paul Newman, consistent with reference 6241 or 6264, at Disney and FX events in April 2026. Comparable examples trade between $100,000 and $1 million.
- His Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch in 18ct Moonshine gold with a green dial, reference 310.60.42.50.10.001, appeared at the 2022 Met Gala and again across the 2024 Deadpool and Wolverine press tour.
- Reynolds became a Piaget global ambassador in 2016 and wore the Polo S and several Altiplano models, including the green dial 60th anniversary edition, reference G0A42052.
- Recent 2026 sightings reported by Robb Report include an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, an A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/Down Lumen and an F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance.
- Since June 2025 Reynolds has co-owned the Bonds Flying Roos SailGP team with Hugh Jackman, adding sailing to his Wrexham AFC portfolio.
For years, Ryan Reynolds was not a name that came up in serious watch conversations. He had the Piaget ambassadorship, a gold Omega Speedmaster for red carpets and an Apple Watch for everything else. That version of Reynolds is gone. Somewhere between the Deadpool and Wolverine press tour and the spring of 2026, the Canadian actor turned into one of the most closely tracked collectors in Hollywood, wearing vintage Rolex chronographs one week and six figure independents the next.
The clearest signal came in August 2026, when Reynolds posted an Instagram Story announcing he was about to start a horology class to learn how to take watches apart and put them back together, purely out of curiosity about what he called a strange mashup of art and engineering. The wrist shot above the text showed a Bernhard Lederer, a piece from among the most respected independent watchmakers alive. Actors wear expensive watches all the time. Very few of them enrol in watchmaking classes. That detail changes how you read everything else on this list.
Below is every watch we can confirm on Reynolds' wrist, ranked by significance, with sightings verified against published coverage rather than recycled listicles. His co-stars have been covered here before, and the contrast with Robert Downey Jr's collection and Chris Hemsworth's watches is telling. They buy modern icons. Reynolds has started hunting the rare stuff.

1. Rolex Cosmograph Daytona "Paul Newman"
The headline watch. In late April 2026 Reynolds appeared at the Walt Disney Company's Emmy Season Toast wearing a vintage Daytona with the exotic dial collectors call the Paul Newman: a black over white panda configuration with Art Deco style numerals in the registers. The next evening, at the FX Welcome to Wrexham event, he wore it again alongside co-owner Rob McElhenney, who had a Daytona of his own. The two even appeared to swap dial orientations between events, which suggests this was a deliberate bit of wrist theatre from the Wrexham pair.
Robb Report's analysis of the photographs noted a black acrylic bezel and what appear to be pump style pushers rather than screw down ones, which narrows the watch to reference 6241 or 6264. Nobody has pinned the exact reference, and Reynolds has not commented. What is certain is the money involved. Paul Newman Daytonas trade between roughly $100,000 and $1 million depending on configuration and condition, and the actual watch Paul Newman owned, a reference 6239, sold for $17.8 million at Phillips in October 2017, a result covered in our Paul Newman Daytona auction history.
A word of caution for anyone inspired to chase one: exotic dial Daytonas sit among the most faked and tampered with vintage Rolex references on the market, with later added dials a persistent problem. Our guide on how to spot a fake Rolex covers the fundamentals, but at this level you buy the seller and the paperwork as much as the watch.
Most buyers who love the panda look are better served by the current Rolex Daytona generation, which carries the same white dial with black registers in a 40mm Oystersteel case, without the six figure vintage premium. We hold the reference below.

2. A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/Down Lumen
This is where the collection stops being celebrity wristwear and starts being collector wristwear. Robb Report reports that Reynolds has been spotted in a Datograph Up/Down Lumen, the Glashütte manufacture's flagship flyback chronograph fitted with a semi transparent smoked sapphire dial and luminous elements that turn the whole display into a night time light show. Among collectors, the Datograph is routinely named one of the finest chronograph movements ever made, and the Lumen treatment is reserved for small runs.
Pieces like this rarely sit in shop windows. Time 4 Diamonds runs a watch sourcing service for exactly this category, locating specific Lange, Journe and vintage Rolex references through our dealer and collector network, typically within 30 days.
3. F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance
The Résonance is François-Paul Journe's signature complication: two independent balance wheels mounted close enough that they synchronise through natural resonance, a phenomenon Journe spent years turning into a reliable wristwatch. It is about as intellectually serious as watchmaking gets, and demand for Journe has run far ahead of supply for most of the past decade.
Seeing one on Reynolds, again via Robb Report's 2026 sighting coverage, tells you he is being advised well or doing real homework himself. Given the horology class, my money is on the homework.
4. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar
Reynolds was photographed at a New York Yankees game in 2026 wearing an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, the Gérald Genta designed octagon carrying day, date, month, leap year and moonphase across its Grande Tapisserie dial. A perpetual calendar at a baseball game is a very particular flex. It is also a very Reynolds one: the most complicated mainstream watch you can wear, delivered casually.
The Royal Oak line rewards starting simpler. The Jumbo Extra-Thin, now reference 16202, is the direct descendant of the original 1972 design and the purist's pick from the Royal Oak collection. We hold the yellow gold reference below.

5. Bernhard Lederer
The watch in the horology class Instagram Story. Bernhard Lederer is a German born independent watchmaker and a member of the AHCI, the academy of independent creators, since 1985, with four decades spent refining escapements in pursuit of chronometric precision. Reynolds' piece is from a 2025 release by Lederer's atelier, and his caption admitted that staring at it made him realise he knows nothing about watchmaking, now and forever.
That is the collector's disease in one sentence. Lederer production is tiny, the clientele is mostly other watchmakers and hardcore enthusiasts, and almost nobody outside that world would recognise one on a wrist. Wearing it anyway is the strongest evidence yet that Reynolds is collecting for himself rather than for photographers.
6. Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch in Moonshine Gold
Before the independents arrived, this was the Reynolds watch. The Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional in Omega's proprietary 18ct Moonshine gold alloy with a green step dial, reference 310.60.42.50.10.001, first appeared on him at the 2022 Met Gala and then ran through most of the 2024 Deadpool and Wolverine press tour, from the New York premiere onwards. The 42mm case carries the Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 3861, the same movement family as the steel Moonwatch.
Watch media at the time kept comparing the gold and green combination to a certain Rolex, and the comparison is fair. The yellow gold Daytona 116508 with the green dial became known as the John Mayer after the musician praised it on camera in 2019, and it has since become among the most requested modern Daytonas on the pre-owned market. Owners who want the exact look Reynolds' Speedmaster echoes tend to end up here, and custom green treatments are also a recurring request through our Rolex dials workshop, as covered in our piece on Drake's Asprey Daytona. We hold the John Mayer reference itself below.

7. Piaget Polo S
Reynolds became a global ambassador for Piaget in 2016, the same year the maison launched the Polo S, its first stainless steel sports line and a deliberate play for younger buyers at a launch price of $9,350 to $12,400. He fronted the campaign and wore the blue dial steel versions, both the three hand automatic and the chronograph, for years of premieres and press.
He has told the story that his awareness of Piaget goes back to childhood, to the scene in the 1987 comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles where Steve Martin's character trades his watch for a motel room. The brand stuck in his head as the definition of classic from that point on, which is a better origin story than most ambassadors manage.
8. Piaget Altiplano 60th Anniversary
The Altiplano is Piaget's ultra thin dress line, in production since 1957, and Reynolds wore several during the ambassadorship. The standout was the 60th anniversary edition released in 2017, reference G0A42052, an 18ct yellow gold case around a green sunburst dial in a shade Piaget rarely uses. Campaign imagery from the period shows him modelling it, and it remains one of the more collectable modern Altiplanos precisely because the colour was a one off celebration rather than a catalogue staple.
Whether the ambassadorship formally continues today is not something either party has publicised recently, and his 2026 wrist rotation suggests the exclusive era is over. The Piaget chapter still matters, though. It is where a rom com actor learned to talk about movements.
9. Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale
A racing chronograph in titanium with a grey DLC treatment and red dial accents, released to mark three decades of Chopard's partnership with the Mille Miglia vintage car rally. It is the most understated thing Reynolds owns, the kind of watch that reads as a tool piece until you clock the name on the dial. He has been photographed in it at off duty appearances rather than premieres, which fits its character.
10. Panerai Luminor Marina
The oldest confirmed piece in his rotation and the least like the rest of it. Reynolds has worn a Luminor Marina, the cushion cased Panerai with the trademark crown guard lever, which watch spotters identify as the 47mm PAM00523 on a leather strap. It is a big, legible, unsubtle watch from his pre collector years, and it survives in the rotation the way a favourite leather jacket survives a wardrobe upgrade.
The Watches Ryan Reynolds Wears On Screen
His characters get decent wristwear too. In The Adam Project on Netflix he wears an Omega Speedmaster, a fitting choice for a time travel pilot given the model's spaceflight history. Deadpool famously checks the time on a child's Adventure Time character watch, a joke that has outlasted three films. And in Detective Pikachu his character wears a simple digital Nixon Siren, reference A1210, proof that costume departments occasionally resist the urge to strap a hero watch on a hero.
The gap between what Reynolds wears in character and what he now wears to a baseball game is the whole story of this collection. One is set dressing. The other is a man three watches deep into an obsession, taking classes so he can understand what he owns.
What His Collection Tells You, and How to Build Your Own Version
The Reynolds arc is a common one, just compressed and better funded. Start with one great gold chronograph, add the sports watch everyone respects, then fall down the vintage and independent rabbit hole once the mainstream stops being interesting. He now runs Wrexham AFC, co-owns the Bonds Flying Roos SailGP team with Hugh Jackman as of June 2025, and wears watches most people at his premieres will never identify. The wrist has caught up with the businesses.
If you are earlier in that arc, the pre-owned route is how most serious collections get built, and part exchange keeps them moving. Time 4 Diamonds has bought and sold luxury watches from our London base since 2005, and our sell your watch service handles everything up to and including exotic dial Daytonas, with collection available in the UK and Dubai.
And if the appeal of the Reynolds collection is the personality rather than the references, that can be built too. Our workshop produces one off pieces through the bespoke watches programme, with diamond setting, custom dials and coating handled in house by our team of ex-Rolex trained watchmakers. Start with the base watch and we can customise your watch into something no press photographer has catalogued yet.
Frequently Asked Questions
What watch did Ryan Reynolds wear at the Met Gala?
At the 2022 Met Gala Ryan Reynolds wore the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional in 18ct Moonshine gold with a green step dial, reference 310.60.42.50.10.001. He wore the same watch again throughout the Deadpool and Wolverine press tour in 2024.
Is Ryan Reynolds still a Piaget ambassador?
Reynolds became a Piaget global ambassador in 2016 and fronted campaigns for the Polo S and Altiplano lines. Neither party has publicised the current status of the arrangement, and his recent public appearances have featured Rolex, Omega, Audemars Piguet and independent brands rather than Piaget.
Does Rolex sponsor Ryan Reynolds?
No. Rolex keeps a small, tightly controlled roster of partners drawn mainly from sport, exploration and the arts, covered in our guide to Rolex ambassadors. Reynolds buys his Rolex watches as a private collector, which is partly why his vintage Daytona attracted so much attention.
How much is a Paul Newman Daytona worth?
Exotic dial Paul Newman Daytonas typically sell between $100,000 and $1 million depending on reference, metal, dial condition and provenance, and the record for Paul Newman's own watch stands at $17.8 million. Vintage manual wind chronographs also need specialist care, which our watch servicing team handles for pieces of this era.
What watch does Ryan Reynolds wear in The Adam Project?
Reynolds wears an Omega Speedmaster in The Adam Project. The Speedmaster's history as the first watch worn on the Moon makes it a natural prop for a story about a pilot moving through time.
Which other Marvel actors collect watches?
Several of his co-stars have collections worth studying. Tom Holland's watch collection has grown quickly in recent years, and Robert Downey Jr has gone deep on customised pieces, including a full black Bamford GMT-Master II. None of them, so far, has enrolled in a horology class.
