In This Article:
Roger Federer has appeared in public with plenty of Rolex watches since partnering with the brand in 2006, a run that starts with a steel Datejust at the US Open and now includes a sapphire-set Daytona valued at around $1.5 million. He has been pictured with what feels like every Rolex model imaginable.
His wife Mirka, a former professional player herself, arguably owns the rarer half of the household collection. Briefly, her rainbow Daytona and emerald Day-Date sit among the most expensive Rolex watches ever photographed on a wrist.
This is the full picture of both collections, with every reference verified against at least two independent sources, plus the pieces we hold in stock at Time 4 Diamonds that match what the Federers actually wear.
Roger Federer and Rolex: The Longest Partnership in Tennis
Roger Federer was welcomed to the Rolex Family in 2001, although he had a brief endorsement deal with Maurice Lacroix. In 2006, Roger signed a lucrative 10-year contract with the Crown, reportedly worth $15 million over the decade, which was one of the largest athlete endorsements of its era. His current agreement is rumoured to be worth around $8 million a year and to run until 2026. He is widely regarded as the brand's primary testimonee, alongside fellow sporting Rolex ambassadors such as Tiger Woods and Jannik Sinner.
One detail collectors love: Roger never wore a watch during a competitive match. The Rolex went on immediately afterwards, usually seconds before the trophy lift, which is why so many of his most famous sightings are tied to specific finals.
Roger Federer’s Watch Collection
As highlighted, Roger Federer is a Rolex ambassador; therefore, the Swiss icon’s personal collection in this article will feature only timepieces from the Crown. We are covering watches worn by Federer from as early as possible to the models we have spotted him wearing today.
The Early Years: Rolex Datejust 36 Ref. 116200 & Rolex Daytona Ref. 116509

Roger's first documented Rolex moment came with a steel Rolex Datejust 36 at the 2006 US Open, the year the partnership began. He was pictured wearing the Datejust whilst lifting his third consecutive US Open trophy. Powered by the Calibre 3135, this reference is a very distinctive configuration in the Datejust 36 collection, with the rare black concentric Arabic dial. Rolex’s concentric dials, also known as “Tuxedo” or “Bullseye” dials, featured repetitive circular patterns, which were unique and captivating.

Less than a year later, Roger was spotted wearing the Rolex Daytona reference 116509, whilst holding his fifth consecutive Wimbledon title. This specific Daytona is nicknamed the “Silver Racing” due to the “racing” dial. Instead of the conventional indices, this dial features Western Arabic numerals to match the numbers on the tachymetric bezel and sub-dial rings, which altogether give a sporty aesthetic.
His Only French Open Title: Rolex Yacht-Master II Ref. 116689

The watch Roger strapped on to lift his only French Open trophy in 2009 was the Yacht-Master II reference 116689. Discontinued in 2022, this Yacht-Master II is an 18ct white gold piece featuring a 44mm case size and a regatta chronograph with a programmable countdown controlled through the Ring Command bezel. Housed inside the large case is the Calibre 4161, and it remains one of the most technically complex watches Rolex makes. For a man completing the career Grand Slam, a complicated white gold Rolex was a fitting choice.
The rest of the Yacht-Master II range covers steel, Everose and yellow gold variants of the same regatta calibre.
Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 116718LN

Roger has worn four different Rolex GMT-Master II models! Firstly, we are highlighting the GMT-Master II reference 116718LN, a piece he wore in a 2008 Rolex poster advert. Whilst we don’t know if this is his personal collection, it is worth noting that he has, at least, been spotted wearing this model. Cast in full 18ct yellow gold, this GMT-Master II was introduced in 2005 to celebrate the GMT-Master’s 50th anniversary, and it was the first GMT model to feature the Cerachrom bezel. These two key elements add collector value to the model.
Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 116710BLNR

When lifting his fifth Australian Open title in 2017, Roger wore the Rolex GMT-Master II reference 116710BLNR. This popular GMT, nicknamed the “Batman”, was a first of its kind, becoming the first model to combine two colours using the Cerachrom bezel. It was discontinued at BaselWorld in 2019, the same place it was unveiled six years earlier. Replacing the model was the reference 126710BLNR, which remains in production to this day.

Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 126710VTNR

In 2022, he turned up at the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix wearing the GMT-Master II reference 126720VTNR, the green and black destro GMT. Yes, this is the Rolex watch built for left-handers, with the crown placed on the left side of the case. In a detail collectors still enjoy, Roger wore it on his right wrist, which is how it is supposed to be worn, so take notes. Part of the collection that replaced the predecessor, reference 116710BLNR, all current GMT-Master IIs are powered by the Calibre 3285.
Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 126710GRNR

The fourth and final GMT-Master II that Roger has been spotted wearing is the reference 126710GRNR, the grey-black bezel configuration in Oystersteel. Launched in 2024, the grey-black bezel finally received a steel reference, having only been part of the yellow gold models. Roger was photographed with it on a Jubilee bracelet at the 2024 Laver Cup in Berlin and wore it again at the 2025 Laver Cup. He clearly favours the Jubilee configuration, and so do we; the five-link bracelet softens the tool-watch character considerably.

Rolex Sky-Dweller Ref. 326135

Roger has been photographed rocking an 18ct Everose gold Sky-Dweller reference 326135, a watch part of the original set of references when it was first released in 2012. This model features a chocolate brown Arabic dial and a brown alligator leather strap, two things you don’t see on modern Rolexes nowadays.
The Sky-Dweller is the most complicated watch in the regular Rolex catalogue with two complications: a Saros annual calendar and dual time zone driven by calibre 9001, with the month indicated by small apertures above each hour marker and every function set through the Ring Command bezel.
Rolex Sky-Dweller Ref. 326934: The Miami Open Trophy Watch

In 2017, five years after the Sky-Dweller was introduced, the Crown unveiled new references for the collection, one being the 326934. Here, Roger is seen lifting the Miami Open 2017 trophy, wearing the white Rolesor Sky-Dweller with the blue sunburst dial.
The exact steel and blue combination from that Miami trophy lift is in our showroom now.

Rolex Day-Date 40 Ref. 228235

In one of the greatest Wimbledon finals against Novak Djoković in 2019, Roger wore the Day-Date 40 reference 228235 with an olive green and Roman numerals dial. This is commonly known as the Day-Date “Olive” or “Anniversary” due to the model being released on the Day-Date’s 60th anniversary. Although losing this final, Roger kept it classy and stylish.
We hold that exact Wimbledon 2019 configuration, the olive green Roman dial 228235 on the President bracelet.

Two Rolex Oyster Perpetual References 124300: One Tennis Ball Yellow, the 2nd Grass Green
At two separate Wimbledon 2021 press appearances, Roger wore two versions of the Oyster Perpetual 41 reference 124300.

Firstly, ahead of Wimbledon 2021, Roger rocked the bright yellow dial, an obvious nod to a tennis ball. Also, it was reported that he was in high spirits going into the tournament, following two knee operations in 2020, so the playful yellow colour was perhaps a deliberate choice to reflect his optimistic mood.

Sadly, after being knocked out of Wimbledon 2021 in the quarter-finals, Roger took to the media room, opting for the green dial, a strong shade that resembles the courts and the Crown itself.
Rolex discontinued the yellow dial in 2022, which sent secondary prices sharply upwards. In 2025, Rolex discontinued the whole 124300 line, replacing it with the reference 134300, which the green dial remains a part of.
Rolex Datejust 41 Ref. 126303: The Wimbledon Dial Connection

No Roger Federer article is complete without the Datejust that carries his tournament's name. The defining moment came in 2017, when he lifted his 8th and final Wimbledon trophy, breaking the record for the most Wimbledon trophies. In doing so, he rocked the yellow Rolesor Datejust 41 reference 126303, featuring the slate grey dial with black Roman numerals outlined in green.
Across the horological world, this is nicknamed the "Wimbledon dial", and an eight-time champion pairing one with his whites is about as on-brand as watch styling gets. We covered which other celebrities wear the Wimbledon Datejust in a separate piece, of course, including the man to whom it belongs.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 6263

One of the advantages of being a Rolex ambassador is that you don’t necessarily need to tap into vintage classics, as there is no such thing as limited availability. Especially considering Roger has been involved with the brand since 2001.
However, he has been spotted wearing the vintage Daytona reference 6263, nicknamed by enthusiasts as the "Big Red". The story behind this watch is a gift from Mirka, who sourced it for his 30th birthday. What was even more thoughtful was that she specifically chose a 6263 model dating back to 1981, the exact year Roger was born.
Produced from 1971 to 1988, this 37mm hand-wound chronograph is a highly sought-after vintage timepiece, featuring a black acrylic bezel and the Valjoux 727 movement. On the black dial, there is red DAYTONA lettering above the six o'clock sub-dial counter, which answers the question of “why the Big Red nickname”.
What makes this piece so iconic is its ties to legendary actor and race driver Paul Newman, who personally owned a reference 6263. In December 2020, Newman’s Daytona sold for $5.475 million; unworn-by-legends examples typically trade between roughly $120,000 and $150,000 depending on condition and papers. If a vintage 6263 or another collector-grade reference is on your list, our watch sourcing service tracks down verified examples through our dealer and auction network.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 116588SACO

Recovering from knee surgery, Roger appeared at the Wimbledon 2022 centenary ceremony wearing the off-catalogue Daytona "Orange" ref 116588SACO: an 18ct yellow gold case, a bezel set with 32 baguette-cut orange sapphires, matching-coloured sapphire hour markers on a black dial and worn comfortably with the Oysterflex strap.
Its retail price was reported around $86,750, with secondary asking prices several times that. Wimbledon 2022 marked the first edition of the tournament in which Roger had not played since 1998. Therefore, he had to wear an absolute belter courtside, and at the time, it was the loudest watch he had ever worn in public. We wrote about why these off-catalogue Rolex watches exist and why most collectors turn to customisation to get the look.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 126528LN

Retirement has not slowed Roger's wrist game down. At the 2024 US Open, he sat courtside with Rolex chief executive Jean-Frédéric Dufour wearing the off-catalogue 18ct yellow gold Daytona reference 126528LN. In 2024, Rolex released the 126528LN in its off-catalogue collection, replacing the 126529LN “Le Mans”. What sets this apart from standard Daytona models is the open caseback display of the exclusive Calibre 4132.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 126529LN

Having mentioned the Daytona reference 126529LN above, in 2025, Roger waved the starting flag at the 24 Hours of Le Mans wearing it, and has recently been spotted rocking it on his Instagram.
In 2023, Rolex produced this reference to celebrate two anniversaries: the 70th anniversary of the Daytona and the 100th anniversary of the Le Mans racing competition. Powered by the Calibre 4132 and designed with an open display caseback, this version of the “Le Mans” Daytona is cast in 18ct white gold.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 126599TSA

Then came the showstopper. At the 2025 Laver Cup, Roger wore the off-catalogue Daytona reference 126599TSA, nicknamed the "Blue Sapphire": a 40mm 18ct white gold case and Oyster bracelet, a dial cut from natural silver obsidian, 36 baguette-cut blue sapphires on the bezel, 54 brilliant-cut diamonds across the case and lugs and 11 blue sapphire hour markers.
Quietly introduced at Watches and Wonders 2025, it trades at an estimated $1.5 million, and Roger was the first Rolex ambassador seen wearing one. A video of him handing it to Carlos Alcaraz to try on went viral among collectors within hours. Every current production Daytona we hold, from steel panda dials to factory gem-set gold, is in our Rolex Daytona collection.
Rolex Land-Dweller Ref. 127334: The Wimbledon 2025 Watch

Lastly, we finish off Roger Federer’s watch collection with the timepiece that fronted the set of 2025 novelties, the Land-Dweller. Notably, this was the first entirely new Rolex collection in over a decade, packed with the brand’s first high-frequency calibre 7135 and its Dynapulse escapement beneath a honeycomb-pattern dial and an integrated flat Jubilee bracelet.
He then chose the white Rolesor configuration with the white honeycomb dial as his Wimbledon 2025 watch, telling interviewers at the tournament that he considered bringing back one of his old trophy watches before deciding the new release was the one, saying simply that he "fell in love with it". We gave our thoughts on the Land-Dweller in our review of the whole Rolex releases from Watches and Wonders 2025.
We have the White Rolesor Land-Dweller 40 ref 127334, the exact model family Roger carried onto the grounds, available now.

Mirka Federer's Rolex Collection
Mirka Federer was a professional player herself until a foot injury ended her career. She met Roger at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and they married in 2009. Her watch collection is smaller than his in count and larger in almost every other respect: nearly everything she wears is off-catalogue, gem-set and effectively impossible to buy at retail.
Two Variations of the Rolex Daytona Ref. 116599RBOW

Imagine owning two variations of the same off-catalogue reference. The first variant of the Daytona reference 116599RBOW features a bezel set with 36 baguette-cut sapphires in a graduated rainbow pattern, a case set with brilliant-cut diamonds, and a black dial with diamond hour markers.

At the 2022 Laver Cup in London, Mirka was seen wearing her second variant of the reference 116599RBOW. Of course, the piece is also cast in 18ct white gold with the rainbow-patterned sapphire bezel, but the difference is the dial. Here, this Daytona “Rainbow” is paired with a pavé diamond dial, adding extra sparkle and flash. This is possible at Time 4 Diamonds, with custom dials in stock and available for pre-order, which you can add to your Daytona.
Watches like Mirka's never reach a retail display, but the look is achievable. Our in-house workshop builds bespoke diamond-set watches to the same visual brief, including rainbow sapphire bezels and full pavé dials on Daytona platforms. This white gold 116509 commission is the closest sibling to her Laver Cup watch we have ever produced, and it is in stock.
Rolex Day-Date 40 Ref. 228396TEM

During the 2017 Australian Open, while Roger was winning his 18th major with the Batman on standby, Mirka was courtside in the platinum Day-Date 40 ref 228396TEM: an emerald-set bezel, a diamond pavé dial with emerald cardinal hour markers and baguette diamonds between them. This is an off-catalogue piece, not appearing on the Rolex website even when searched directly. She was also spotted wearing it alongside Roger at Wimbledon 2025, whilst he wore his Land-Dweller.
Rolex Datejust 36 Ref. 116199SANR
Here is a really cool piece. Mirka has been pictured with a Rolex Datejust 36 reference 116199SANR, which collectors and enthusiasts call the “Zebra”. Clearly, Mirka is a fan of white gold, as this is another piece crafted out of the metal. It features a unique black enamel dial with stripes of white diamonds, which is why people gave it the nickname “Zebra”. Additionally, there are diamonds set in the case where the strap links in and is adorned by a black sapphire set bezel. What makes this even more unique is the black textured rubber strap that has five diamonds on either side of the band.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 126538TRO

Things get even wilder with this Rolex Daytona. As worn by Lionel Messi and Mark Wahlberg, Mirka is in the minuscule club of Daytona “Barbie” owners. This is the off-catalogue reference 126538TRO, an ultra-rare Daytona crafted from 18ct yellow gold with a vibrant pink aesthetic: a trapeze-cut pink sapphire-set bezel, a pink dial with pink sapphire hour markers and a pink alligator leather strap.
By the number of times pink is seen above, it is obvious why the “Barbie” nickname came about. But do not let that distract you from the fact that only a handful have been produced, and it is valued on the secondary market for over $1,000,000!
Rolex Daytona Ref. 126538TBR

Following on from Mirka's Daytona "Barbie" is another extremely rare and exclusive off-catalogue Daytona model, the reference 126538TBR featuring a natural turquoise blue stone dial, a trapeze-cut diamond bezel and baguette-cut diamond hour markers. Like the Daytona "Barbie", hardly anyone has been spotted wearing this masterpiece, so it reaches high premiums on the secondary market.
Rolex Yacht-Master 40 Ref. 116695SATS

Another sporty gem-set watch has appeared on Mirka’s wrist, the 18ct Everose Yacht-Master 40 reference 116695SATS. Collectors call this the "Haribo" for its multi-coloured bezel, consisting of sapphires and tsavorites that, unintentionally, resemble sweets. To be precise, in the bezel there are 28 sapphires, 8 tsavorites and one diamond placed above 12 o’clock.
The Federer's Watch Collection
Although very brief, this section includes timepieces worn by both Roger and Mirka Federer. There are only two, but they are some belters, including a sought-after Day-Date configuration and a heavy-hitting Daytona.
Rolex Day-Date II Ref. 218235
Lifting his 7th Wimbledon trophy in 2012, Roger was pictured with the Day-Date II reference 218235; his wife Mirka wore it on a separate occasion. Before the Day-Date 40, there was the Day-Date II, which sat slightly larger on the wrist with a 41mm case size. This exact model they wore is highly sought after for its dial. Set into the black dial are eight baguette-cut diamonds and two rubies, one at 6 o'clock and the second at 9 o'clock.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 116506
Here is the heavy-hitter. On numerous occasions, Roger has worn the platinum Daytona reference 116506 with the ice blue dial and chestnut brown Cerachrom bezel. The most memorable time he wore the heavy hitter was in 2019, after playing Serena Williams in an exhibition match. Mirka wore it whilst supporting her husband from the stands.
Released in 2013 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Daytona, this first-ever platinum reference goes down as one of the all-time greats from Rolex. It simply has to be in his collection. This is the only watch which has been caught on both their wrists, taking couple goals to another level, but more on that further down the article.

What the Federer Collection Tells You
Two decades with one brand have produced a collection with a clear logic. Roger buys the catalogue at its best: trophy-moment sports models, precious metal dress watches and the occasional new release worn before anyone else can get one. Mirka collects what the catalogue will not show you.
Between them, they cover the entire spectrum from a steel Oyster Perpetual to a seven-figure Daytona, and the influence is measurable; when Federer wears a green OP to a press conference, that dial sells out. His fellow ambassador Jannik Sinner is now carrying the same effect forward, as we covered when Sinner won Wimbledon 2025, and it echoes what we see with other Rolex-first collectors such as Lionel Messi.
If a piece from either collection is the target, three routes exist. Current references are available pre-owned without the waiting list. Discontinued and vintage pieces can be sourced to order. And the off-catalogue gem-set look can be recreated through customisation; our guide on how to customise your Rolex explains what is possible, from a single diamond bezel to a full rainbow build.
