Factory-Set and Bespoke Diamond Watches
A diamond watch sits at the point where watchmaking meets jewellery, and the two routes to one are very different. Factory-set pieces leave the manufacture with diamonds already in place: a Rolex Datejust with a factory diamond bezel, a Day-Date with diamond hour markers, a Cartier Panthere or Santos with a diamond-set case. Bespoke pieces are set after purchase by a specialist workshop, which opens up stones, patterns and coverage the factories never offer. This collection holds both, and every listing states which route the watch took.
The distinction matters for value. Factory-set diamonds carry the manufacture's certification and command the strongest resale prices. Bespoke setting trades some of that liquidity for a watch nobody else owns. Neither is the wrong choice, they simply serve different buyers, and our team will tell you plainly which suits your plans for the piece.
How Time 4 Diamonds Grades and Sets Diamonds
Every diamond watch we sell is inspected stone by stone in our London workshop. On factory pieces we verify the setting is original to the watch, since aftermarket bezels passed off as factory work are the most common problem in this market. On bespoke pieces we use VS clarity stones or better, set by hand into the original case components rather than replacement parts, so the watch keeps its identity and its serial.
Our bespoke work is carried out in house by setters and watchmakers, including engineers who trained at Rolex before joining us. If the diamond watch you want does not exist yet, the bespoke workshop builds it: pave dials, diamond bezels, full coverage or a single row of stones. Our guide to the best custom diamond-set Rolex watches shows what the workshop produces.
Choosing a Diamond Watch
Start with how the watch will be worn. Diamond hour markers or a factory bezel keep a piece office-appropriate while catching the light. Fuller coverage turns the watch into the centrepiece of an outfit. Ladies models from Cartier and Rolex concentrate on smaller cases with factory setting, while the men's market increasingly runs through bespoke work on sports models. Our luxury diamond watches guide ranks the strongest references at each level.
Time 4 Diamonds has dealt in diamond-set watches since 2005 from 3 More London Riverside, with a second showroom in Dubai. Every piece is authenticated, photographed in house and delivered insured.
